Understanding the pain...?

While home on Spring Break I dropped by my friends' house on the way back from my homeschool co-op I like to visit to talk to him because I felt like our friendship had weakened while I'd been away. His mom, who is very much overprotective of him, found out and she thought that I had gone there on purpose to do something improper with him because she wasn't there. I was going to go visit the homeschool co-op again two days later but ended up not going because his mother called me and told me her son didn't need me as a distraction and she needed him to focus. He's older than me and his mom is still making him do high school! I was hurt, and humiliated and unable to see all of my other friends because of this. I don't understand why the situation happened and I don't know how to deal with the pain....
