Itunes install help!?

i just bought an 8GB Itouch and i tried to turn it on and all i see is a usb cable pointing at the itunes logo, so i figure maby if i download itunes right? so i did it was good till i tried to install it..every time i try to install it keeps saying fatal error, and tbh...its really starting to frustrate me...i cant seem to install it...any help would be much appreciated..btw if you say to "falcon punch" my computer..ill hunt you down!
